Spill on Marble Table

by Nick
(Dallas, TX)

Hi there,

It seems like I put a coffee mug on my marble table without using a coaster and it left a stain.

The table is light-colored marble so the stain is very obvious.

Could you please help me fix this? Is there a way to remove the stain?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

What has happened is the marble was etched by whatever liquid was in the coffee mug.

The liquid was slightly acidic and reacted with the calcium in the marble table.

If you can feel the etch mark with your finger, then the etch mark most likely will have to be honed and depending on if it had a polished finish, then maybe polished as well.

If it has a polished finish and you don't feel the etching with your finger, it is possible to polish and blend it with a polishing powder or paste.

Both honing and polishing are best left for stone restoration experts.

If you want to try on your own, there are some polishing pastes you can buy, that will polish out light etching.

Check out my resource page to find products I recommend to find a polishing paste that could help you with this problem.
