Granite Countertops Sealing

I was wondering if I have to do anything to my granite countertops that were installed about 6 months ago.
Maria,
This is a good question. When your granite was installed, the fabricator/installer should have let you know if they sealed them or not.
If you don't know if they sealed them, they most likely didn't. Try calling them to find out.
If your granite is a lighter color, they most definitely need to be sealed for two reasons.
Because they are lighter in color, if something spilled that could stain them, it could be easily seen.
Also, lighter color granites tend to be less dense, thus more porous.
If you decide to seal your granite countertops, use an impregnating sealer for granite.
There are a lot of reputable sealers out there.
Do a little research and ask a local stone restoration professional for their opinion.
