Did I put too much sealant on our old slate porch?

I put a small amount (or so I thought) of sealer's choice gold on our slate porch which is at least 55 years old. Woke up the next morning and the small area that I put it on was streaked white. (pretty bad) What can I do to restore this? Please help. Husband is upset said I shouldn't do it in the first place.
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I'm not familiar with the sealer you put on your slate floor and so I don't know what type of sealer it is.
I assume since your slate floor is 55 years old it may be free of any other sealers, but only you know the answer to that question.
If there was another sealer of topical coating, the sealer you put on could have had a reaction.
You can try using acetone to remove the sealer you applied and if that doesn't work you can look for a stripper.
One good thing is you only applied it too one area and not the entire floor.
I never recommend putting anything on natural stone unless it's a penetrating sealer.
Penetrating sealers absorb into natural stone to help protect from staining.
Other topical coatings that promise to put a shiny coat on natural stone can be problemsome and high maintanence.
I hope this helps.
