cleaning tile grout with stone accents

by cindy

I have put in tile with stone accents and the grout won't wash out of the stone accents very well without using just water.

I was just wondering if there is an easier way to clean it besides using water and a tooth brush.

It is very time consuming doing it using the water and tooth brush.

Hi Cindy,

I know it can be tedious. Try buying a brush at Home Depot that's bigger. Also buy some muruatic acid and some gloves and try cleanig the excess grout with the acid.

The acid usually does the trick. A bigger brush with also help.

I hope this helps.

Hi Ladyflyer58,

To clean your travertine floor I would look for a product safe for marble. We sell products for marble, travertine and limestone that are safe and won't etch your floor like an acidic chemical would.

The product will be alkaline but not too alkaline as too much alkalinity could etch too.

Check out our products or go to a tile store where they sell marble and travertine and they most likely will have natural stone products as well.

I hope this helps.

Help with grout and travertine floor
by: ladyflyer58

We have extensive travertine floors. Polished in bathroom, and natural, unpolished through out our home (Ranch style). How do I clean the dirt (stubborn) in the travertine floor? Info says no acidic products! Since it is white grout, what do I use to make it white again?
