Cleaning off grout containing sealant
by Judith Gould
(Salisbury NC)
Rough sandy film still on marble tile after installers left.
Also on brand new stainless steel sink.
Help!
Judith,
This sounds like grout haze and if it's sandy, that means they used sanded grout, which in most cases shouldn't be used with marble tile.
Definitely call the installers back to have them come remove the grout haze. They are responsible and should have left it new looking.
We've had to fix a lot of these and how we have done it has depends on the degree of the haze.
Sometimes we've had to hone and polish, other times we've just polished the stone to remove the grout haze.
What ever the case will be, the company who installed the marble tile should responsible for the cost of fixing the problem.
Get this done sooner than later because as time passes they will not respond to you. I hope you didn't pay them yet, as that's always a motivator for them to come fix their problem.
I hope this help.
