Clean limestone from smoke damage?
Is it possible and if it is, how would you clean smoke damaged limestone?
It's hard to say without seeing photos and knowing exactly what the smoke damage is.
I guess it depends on how deep the smoke penetrated the limestone. It may clean up with just an alkaline cleaner, with a 20-30 minute dwell time.
If that doesn't work, maybe the limestone can be honed with course grit diamonds to open up the pores a bit.
If after honing and there was still discoloration, maybe trying more alkaline cleaner or even a poultice.
Honing, poulticing until you were satisfied with the outcome before honing to a higher honed finish.
There are many things that can be tried, but it's hard to say what exactly would work.
You might need to ask a professional to help out and I would even get a quote for tile replacement.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
