Can color enhancer sealant be used effectively after slate has already been sealed?

by Scottie
(Knoxville, TN, United States)

I sealed my slate tile with a water based sealer. I'm disappointed that the color doesn't stand out more.

Is it too late to use a color enhancer sealer? I put 3 coats of the 1st sealer.

I'm thinking it may not be absorbent enough at this point.

Scottie,

The only way is to do a test. Apply an enhancing sealer on a few tiles and see if it give you the results you're looking for.

Some slates are very porous, so there still may be some room for an enhancer. You already put 3 coats of the other sealer.

Go ahead and try the enhancer.

Good luck. Let me know what you find out.

Pedro

Enhancer over regular sealer
by: Scottie

Applying the color enhancer on my slate tile brought out the colors really well, even though I had already applied 3 coats of regular sealer. My tile must be very porous fortunately.
