Using Your Granite Sealer Over a Competitors

by Robert Ott
(St. Augustine, Fl usa)

When the granite was installed we had it sealed by a local company.

After a year or so, the granite is beginning to show water absorption.

Can I clean with your product and reapply sealant after and get an even sealing?

Thanks

Robert,

Yes you can, but what you want to do first is dry your granite out first before applying any sealer.

Keep the granite dry for a few days and then apply the sealer.

Make sure to remove any residue of the sealer before it dries on the surface.

This is the mistake a lot of people make when sealing their stone. They let the sealer dry on the surface. Don't let it dry.

Because you have a porous granite, I would wait a day and do the sealing process again.

Unfortunately, because you have a porous granite the water will always penetrate the stone. What you have to do is wipe up any standing water so it doesn't absorb into it.

I hope this information helps.
