Uneven haze on some marble..cant buff out
by Michael walker
The marble was installed two months ago, has not been sealed yet.
A lot of the individual pieces have, what looks like a bad finish on them.
I was hoping that the sealer would solve problem but it didn't.
Do I need a lightly abrasive polish to get back the true shine of the marble, or should I be thinking about wet sanding and polishing wheels?
I don't know why the marble tiles don't have a consistent finish on them, but if I had to guess, it could be from the install.
I see this time and time again, where the installer either etches the marble finish while applying the grout and/or scratching the finish by using a sanded grout.
Whatever the cause, you most likely will need to have the tiles polished with marble polishing compounds or powders, or if it's really bad, they may need to be honed and polished.
You can do it yourself, but it's a pretty steep learning curve. I would have a professional come out and see exactly what is needed and how much it will cost.
My bet is, it needs to be polished, which would be the most economical.
Hope this helps.
