Travertine table top
My table top is made of travertine. It is about 10 years old and has some minor scratches.
The finish looks like it is worn. What product(s) do you suggest I use.
Should it be sanded and refinished? or will a polisher help?
Yes, I recommend you refinish your travertine table. I do not recommend buying some sort of polish or shiny finish or coating for it.
You can refinish it yourself to remove the light scratching and etch marks if you want to invest some time on learning how to do it.
I can't explain the refinishing process in this response, but if you are determined you can find the information and products and do it yourself.
If you do do it yourself, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and will be able to restore the travertine table top throughout your life, as it will need it from time to time.
If you are not motivated to learn and do not want to do it yourself, then call a person who does stone restoration and they will be happy to come and restore your travertine top.
Be prepared to pay, as stone restoration is not cheap, but if the person or company knows what they are doing, I'm positive it will look great.
I hope this helps.
