Terrazzo Floor Restoration
Are you in need of Terrazzo floor restoration services in the Seminole, Florida area?
Have you recently purchased a home and discovered
below the carpets terrazzo floors and would like to have those terrazzo floors refinished?
Yes we can help with restoring Terrazzo floors, but first you should ask yourself "why should I restore my terrazzo floor?"
Why Restore/Refinish My Terrazzo Floor?
Terrazzo floors are unique looking, cool to the touch and are easier to maintain than ceramic and even the high end tiles out today.
Terrazzo flooring was a favorite material for the building industry here in Florida
in the 50s and 60s and if you're one of the lucky ones that has it in your home, we can help you restore and maintain your terrazzo floor.
Terrazzo floors are made up small marble chips set in a cement matrix and comes in a variety of colors.
Originally, Terrazzo flooring was not polished to a high polished finish, but grinded to a more flat finish and then covered with a wax coating.
Over the years Terrazzo floors were maintained by stripping and waxing to maintain their shine. As this can be a tedious maintenance procedure
and as different materials became more popular, Terrazzo began to be covered up and forgotten about.
If you have this timeless flooring treasure, have it refinished and enjoy its beauty while increasing your home’s value.
Modern Diamond Polishing Techniques Saved Terrazzo Floors!
Nowadays Terrazzo floors can be refinished to a high polished finish with the use of diamond impregnated polishing pads and marble polishing powders.
Terrazzo floor restoration can be a cost effective flooring for your home compared to carpet or tile, which on average with material cost,
removal of old material, and labor, can be easily $3-$11 per square foot.
Compare that with diamond polishing terrazzo floors, which on average is $3-$6 per square foot, depending on type old floor covering and any repair work that
needs to be done and square footage.
Once you have your terrazzo floors refinished, maintenance is much easier than if it were waxed. No need to strip and wax every year.
A diamond polished terrazzo floor should be maintained with a pH neutral marble cleaner and swept or vacuumed regularly.
Terrazzo Polishing - Seminole, Florida
We would also recommend periodically polishing a newly refinished terrazzo floor. We only use powder polishing techniques on all Terrazzo floors
which does not put a coating on the Terrazzo Floor.
Any coating on the Terrazzo would mean the coating would need to be stripped before any polishing could be done, which could add to the cost.
Examples of coatings on Terrazzo floors are wax, crystallizer, concrete sealers and acrylic sealers.
After all our refinishing/restoration or cleanings of Terrazzo floors, we use a penetrating sealer to help protect the Terrazzo floor from absorbing
stains from spills.
The penetrating sealers we use allows the Terrazzo floor to breathe and not be subject to yellowing or the plastic look that occurs once coatings
begin to age.
We don't recommend any coatings on Terrazzo floors or any natural stone surface, as coatings can cause long term problems, which translates into bigger
financial troubles for you in the future.
When it comes to terrazzo floor restoration services or ceramic and porcelain tile and grout or just maintaining natural stone, we
strive to help educate our customers on the best protection they can have, helping them save time and money in costly
restoration costs down the road.
We offer our services in Seminole, Florida and surrounding area, but clean tile and grout and natural stone surfaces throughout the Tampa Bay Area.
