Tile and Grout Cleaning

Oily terrazzo floor, Why?

by Jack E Freeman
(Topeka Kansas)

What is causing the terrazzo floor to be slick even when you clean it with hot water and a neutral cleaner. What can I do?

Jack,

I'm not sure the situation, but maybe you need something a little stronger. Try using an alkaline cleaner. An alkaline cleaner may cut the grease or oil if that's the problem.

Also, if the floor has a high polished finish, it may just be slippery because it's highly polished. You may want to have it honed to remove the polished finish if it's a problem.

I hope this information helps.
