Once you know what stained the granite, you can try cleaning it with a solvent that is best for the paticular stain. For ink based stains, try mineral spirits or acetone.

For grease or oil based stains, try cleaning it with ammonia or bleach. Careful with the bleach if it's a darder granite, you might want to dilute it first.

For organic or food based stains clean with hydrogen peroxide. These are just a few examples of possible remedies for cleaning a stain on granite countertops. You may have to use a poultice if the stain persists.
