Do I need just MB-3 cleaner or do I have to also use mildew remover?
We have a travertine shower that hasn't been sealed in almost 3 years.
Some pink stuff keeps appearing and/ or I can't get it off when I clean with soap and water.
I'm assuming it's mildew. (The mildew did come off when I used Simple Green but I don't know if it's safe for travertine, so I'm afraid to use it regularly.)
We also have soap scum. Can I use just the MB-3 cleaner, or do I also have to buy the mildew remover? (Will the MB-3 remove mildew?)
Also, I just bought some Du Pont Stone Sealer from Lowes that says its for bathrooms and floors.
Would that be ok to use after using your company's cleaner?
Yes you're right the pink stuff is mildew growing. I would use the MB-9 Mildew Remover and then MB-3 to remove the soap scum.
They both work great. Also, if you're still having trouble removing the soap scum, try using a razor blade to scrape the soap scum off the travertine.
This is what we do when cleaning shower walls. MB-3 helps loosen the soap scum, but sometimes it needs more help to get it off completely.
Don't worry about using another company's sealer after your cleaning. The idea behind any sealer is to protect from staining.
I hope this helps.
