Cleaning Marble Floors
Cleaning marble floors is not that hard and you shouldn't be afraid of your marble floors because
I constantly hear people say or read on the internet how delicate marble surfaces are.
Yes, they are higher maintanence than a ceramic tile, but they are not that delicate or hard to clean.
As long as you know what to clean them with, and you clean them regularly, they should stay looking great for
years to come.
One thing to keep in mind if you have marble floors, marble is made from calcium, which is sensitive to acids
and is very soft.
This means, if you spill orange juice or vinegar, you could etch the marble surface. Also, any stray sand grain
carried in on the bottom of your shoes, could scratch your marble.
Knowing what could potentially harm your marble floors, could save you restoration costs down the road.
In general, mopping tile floors regularly with a
neutral floor cleaner
and a flat mop, will be the best and
easiest way to maintain the tile floors.

Don't be worried about damaging your stone.

Neutral cleaners are safe for all natural stone and tile and grout surfaces.
If your marble floor tile is looking a little dull, it probably needs more than a cleaning. It may need to be re-surfaced,
or honed and polished. Check out
our polishing marble page for more
information on restoring the polished finish.
The most important thing you need to know about cleaning marble is not to use strong chemicals.
Acidic and even akaline chemicals will etch the marble.
Vinegar is acidic and bleach is akaline, so you do not want to clean marble with either one of these cleaners.
Neutral cleaners for natural stone are recommended and available
and if you don't have a neatral cleaner, use warm water to clean you marble surface.
When cleaning your marble floors, mop the marble tiles with your neutral cleaning solution or warm
After mopping, use a dry cotton or microfiber cloth to dry the surface of the marble.
Drying the marble with the dry cotton or microfiber cloth will not only pick up the water, but any dirt still
in the water.
This is a very important step that most people don't do.
When it comes to cleaning marble floors or just maintaining natural stone and tile and grout, we strive to help educate our
customers on the best protection they can have, helping them save time and money in costly restoration costs down the road.
