Acid Wash and Reseal the tile?
We recently had a contractor re-do the top boarder of our pool using un-glazed tile...the problem is they did not seal the tile prior to grouting and now theres a white film that cant be removed.
They have tried tile breaker, soap and water, and paint thinner...to boot they just sealed the tile and the film is still present.
I have talked to a couple "professionals" and they have told me to acid wash and reseal the tile to remove the film.
Please help me.
I don't have a lot of experience with this problem on ceramic tile. When I've seen this on marble tile, we just powder polish the marble and it usually works.
I've been told by others who do this work, that acid washing the tiles does work. I don't have direct experience with this, but if others have told you the same thing, I would try it.
Acids shouldn't hurt your ceramic tile, so I would try it on a few tiles as a test, and if it works, do it on the rest of the tiles.
I hope you can get it off. You should have the tile installer do this as it's his problem in the first place.
